Winter Wonder Land
Posted by Terrence York under: Terrence York (Coach) .
Saturday morning while I was driving east on Fulton to the Field house I noticed a couple of runners on the road and wondering if they were also training for the 5/3 River Bank Run. This also motivated me for Saturdays long run in the very snowy and icy conditions.
We started out the morning with Coach Woj’s core strengthen class. I guess I need to perform the core strengthen program more than twice a year because I was hurting after we were done. I don’t think the hardwood floor helped out any either. Next time I will have to bring a mat. It was great to see a large group of runners in this class.
When we started running on the snow and ice covered roads I wasn’t sure if I was going to run ten miles or go fourteen due to I was going to be in a marathon relay the following day. I ran with Mike D and other fellow run gazellens at a faster pace than I usually run. It turned out to be a very good run despite slipping and sliding. I might have to venture out to run gazalle store and puchase some yaktracks. By the way we ran ten miles.
Great job to all the runners who trains in this Michigan winter wonderland.
The following day we were in the frostbite relay marathon in Holland. Our team finished at about 3:47:00? It was a very unoffical fun run race. That unofficial time was faster than my G.R. Marathon time. We had followed each person in our team vehicle to each exchange point. Once we were out of downtown Holland the course was so beatiful with all the snow that they had. We ran down some country roads with horse farms, some very nice houses on the lake, and made a loop back toward town when the runners who ran the last leg of the race had to deal with traffic, snow plows, and getting splashed with water from passing cars. But in the end I think everyone had a good time. It was just a great fun run day. I would love to be able to run in that marathon relay next year. Until my next blog keep up the training.

Sounds like so much fun Terry! I think I would like to run in that relay next year as well. . . as long as they are not looking for super speed!
