Time off

Posted by Terrence York under: Terrence York (Coach) .

Thursday night after my speed workout at the YMCA I was exiting the YMCA when all of a sudden out of now where it felt like I inhaled a feather in my left nostril.  I thought oh no not a sinus infection.  I have to much to do this weekend.  Well friday morning I woke up and my left side of my face was swollen and my nose was running etc, etc.   Needless to say I called in sick at work.  I went to the YMCA that afternoon to sit in the steam room to see if that would clear me up.  Well it worked for about a half an hour after I left the YMCA.  Later that evening I had to help set up for an auction for my son’s school.  When I got home I took some medication and went to bed.

The next morning on saturday I was supposed to meet with some fellow run gazelle members to run a long run.  I still wasn’t feeling well so I opted out in staying in a nice warm bed than running.  I rarely like to do that because when I miss a long run it feels like there is something missing for the rest of the weekend.

When I saw that run gazelle canceled the long run for sunday I was thankful.  This gave me another day to rest.  I guess I was listening to my body and it told me to take some time off.  Hopefully the medication will start working soon so I can get back out there to continue my training for the 5/3 Riverbank Run.

Hey Terry–good job listening to your body! I know how difficult that can be. Hope you are feeling better soon!

R&R my friend. You’ve earned it. Feel better soon. Running with a cold makes the miles seem twice as far! Good luck.
