Ride the pine no more
Posted by Bob Estes under: Bob Estes .
I have been in runner’s purgatory long enough. My doctor has given me the OK to run as long as I “don’t trip.” I will try hard not to let that happen! Last week I logged the first mileage in some time with 10 miles total for the week and 3 miles swam.
My back feels pretty good. My left leg is still weak from the nerve pinch and I may not be fully recovered (according to the good doctor) for another 3 – 4 months. The weakness in my left hip causes balance issues. In fact, I will NOT be performing any complicated acrobatics or skateboard tricks. I’ll leave that to our very own invincible Iron Mike.
I am running slower than before the injury. I didn’t think that was possible without breaking into a walk. I’ve certainly got a ways to go before I can be where I want to be but truth is, I am just happy to be lacing up and trotting the trails, sidewalks, and roads once again.
Get out, find some fresh air and sunshine and think spring!
Happy training to you!

Woohoo! Welcome back, Bob! Slow and steady is OK–especially when you are recovering from such a hiatus!

Good to hear! I am sure that you will be back at it in no time.
By the way, thanks for the gloves. I think that I would be missing a few fingers if you didn’t have the extra pair….I will bring them Thursday for you.
