Ready, Set, DIET!

Posted by Mike Dopke under: Mike Dopke (Coach) .

C’mon January! I’m soooo ready to join the millions of Americans who annually take on an exercise program and swear off the holiday blubber (a.k.a. that 5 pounds I have gained since Thanksgiving). Yes folks, I sometimes have a problem saying no 2nd and 3rd helpings of food this time of year. All of the cookies, cakes, pies and festive meals are so delicious; and I ALWAYS look forward to the Sam Adams holiday variety pack. The fact that I am currently sitting no less than 6 feet away from a box of Krispy Kremes, a bowl of caramel corn, and a tub of peanuts is not helping much either

It didn’t seem to matter last summer, competing in several races and training for the Grand Rapids Marathon. I could and did eat just about everything I wanted and not gain an ounce. Times have changed since the end of October though. My weekly mileage has dropped from 45 miles to about 25-30. Still very respectable for off-season maintenance, but not enough to torch the amount of calories I have been ingesting as of late. So needless to day, I am looking forward ramping the mileage back up, and getting back to healthier eating habits.

I had a good run Saturday morning covering 11 miles around EGR with Rungazelle. This was before the snow came through so the roads were clear. It was nice to see Road Warriors Matt, and Bob come out to give the club a try. I hope you enjoyed that last mile Matt.

Sunday Terry and I ran around Reeds Lake with Road Warriors Shirl, Julie, and Chaz. I want to give these 3 cats props for showing up on such a lovely day. It was quite challenging to maintain traction running through the snow and slush. Great job kids!

Pass the gravy - I’m right there with you brother! It’s almost time to drop the fork and hit the road. Can’t wait.

i have found over many years that a vegan diet is the the best for me and all folks it just takes time getting used to and keeping off of all junk foods and keeping on mostly raw foods as well this diet will give stamina energy and even make u horny as well but its takes at least 2 years maybe more for u to ajust to it and its good for animals and planet
