Random thoughts…

Posted by Kristin Linscott under: Kristin Linscott .

It seems like forever and a day that I’ve posted a blog…I guess procrastination set in on this blogging!  I’m having a hard time choosing what I want to write about today, so I decided that it’s not against the rules to put down some random thoughts about what has been going on lately.

After my long bout with the Mucinex Mucous Men, I’m finally feeling 100%!  YAY!  My attitude has become so much more positive and I’m doing everything I can to stay healthy.  Julie and I ran together at the Y on Monday night - SO MUCH FUN!  Julie…I hope I didn’t slow you down too much…and THANK YOU for keeping up the pace.  Running together helps keep me avoid the lazyness…and keeps me from being a wimp.  Anyways, I think there is something in the air at the Y…last time I ran there I got horridly sick that next weekend.  And then last night I felt what could have been the beginnings of a sore throat.  I refused to ‘own it’…went to bed early and popped some Vitamin C…we are all good today.

Anyways, running at the Y was great.  Sure beats the treadmill at the gym!  The only thing about the track at the Y is that there are some people who haven’t learned the rules of the indoor track.  At one point I totally ran into this lady and her little girl - don’t slow down in the middle of the lane people! :)

On to my thoughts about treadmills…well, I’ve got my new favorite treadmill at my gym.  I think there is some sort of bond forming between the two of us.  The story goes…well, it’s that time of year when all the New Year’s Resolutioners are in full-effect at the gym…and all of my usual treadmills are being used, boo!  Give it another two-three weeks and the place will be empty again.  Off in a corner all alone is one treadmill that no one ever uses - or at least I’ve never seen anyone use it before.   Initially, I was peeved to have to change up treadmills..but in the end, good has come out of my irritation!  This is the COOLEST treadmill…it’s got a screen that looks like a track, so you can see how far you are on each lap, it’s in front of a good TV that is always on a good station, AND it’s in the corner so no one can bother me while I’m sweating up a storm.  I’ve had a handful of great runs on this baby…honestly, I’m glad no one wants to use this one…ha ha…the past few times I’ve been at the gym it’s been open! :)

Hmmmm, other thoughts….oh, I’ve got my notorious running wall calendar in a new spot…on the wall in my bedroom near my bathroom.  So, every morning while I’m getting ready I basically stare at the thing.  A visual reminder of all the hard work ahead of me…and a reminder that I have to keep on top of my game.  I’ve even started logging my mileage after each run…it’s totally different actually SEEING how much/how far you are running.  It’s reminder of what I have already accomplished vs. what I have yet to accomplish.  Exciting, yet scary, all at the same time.

Well, here’s to the almost end of January…where is time going?  Only 4 months left of training…what?!?!?!

To all my fellow Road Warriors and anyone else reading these blogs…stay on top of your game and keep the focus!

I always love random thoughts Kristen! Glad you found a new and awesome treadmill to sweat on! Great that you and Julie ran together Monday night. . . .I was battling a (thankfully) only 24 hour flu. I’ll run and spin tonight. Keep up your great determination!

Kristin–you are doing a great job! I keep a mileage log (and biking log for my xt time!), too–it makes a huge difference for me to see the stats each day. I don’t like the blank days so it keeps me going! Hope you’re still feeling healthy — and eventually I hope to run with you (though I’m not offended when everyone runs on ahead–so I guess I should say I hope to run NEAR you, as I’m the slow one!).
