Progress…and a little pain!

Posted by Kristin Linscott under: Kristin Linscott .

I had a great run last night with the group…2 mile warm up and then a 5 mile lap around Reeds Lake.  It was really nice to have a running partner…though I did drop back a bit about 1/2 way around the lake.  It’s good to push it, but with a long run this weekend, I felt okay about taking it easy.

It’s amazing to see where I’m at now compared to even one month ago.  Not just the increase in distance, but I’m now able to really figure out my form checks along the way.  I tried a few new things last night that the Chi Running book suggested…bending your knees more, leaning, kicking heels back/up.  I must have been doing something different…I was able to go longer with feeling less tired.  But at the same time, I think having bent my knees more often…I’m sure paying for it today!  I guess it’s just the process of figuring it out.

Or maybe it’s the fact that I played an hour of raquetball at the Y at 10pm.  I think I’ve proved to Matt that I don’t totally suck…I’m getting better…but I was SO tired last night that I wasn’t putting all that much effort into it.  I think I put more effort into complaining. :)

So I was in the back kitchen area of the office a few minutes ago.  I bent down to get a drink out of the fridge and I couldn’t get back up!  My knees totally locked up on me…felt like I had a million pounds of weights pulling me down…wierd.  So now I’m in my office, in a suit, doing deep knee bends to help stretch it out.  My co-workers must think I’m crazy.

So anyways, I’m excited for the long run tomorrow morning.  Coach Terry wants me to do the full 15 miles.  I’m aiming for this, but it depends on my time and how the knees feel.  I’ve got a baby shower out towards Lansing at 1pm…I’d like to make it there in decent condition!

No running tonight…probably in bed by 9 or 10pm - an 8 am run and I’m definitely NOT a morning person!  Can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow!

Hey Kristin!

Glad you’re going to the long run tomorrow! Maybe we can run together and keep each other company! I’m considering wearing shorts to show off my pasty legs … anyone else?? See you tomorrow!

I’ll be in shorts. Don’t look directly at my legs, it could impair you vision!
