Priorities
Posted by Kristin Linscott under: Kristin Linscott .
Although you may have the best of intentions, something things just don’t work out!
So I had registered for a summer class a few weeks ago…I’m working toward my MPA at GVSU. I was so excited to get into a class again…with work being busy and coaching having taken up a lot of my time, I just hadn’t had the chance to get a class going.
Anyways, the class is online…we meet 3 Saturday’s out of the entire summer.
Of course, the FIRST class meets on Saturday, May 10th…the day of the BIG RACE!
So I emailed my professor and explained to him my situation and also that particular day will be parking hell in downtown Grand Rapids (the class was at GVSU downtown). I guess some people do not comprehend the size of the Fifth Third Riverbank Run - there will be a few extra people hanging out in Grand Rapids on May 10th!
So, he emailed me back saying that it’s mandatory that I’m there on May 10th and I should consider taking the class another time. Needless to say, I’m really disappointed.
HOWEVER, I can say that I’m a girl who, for the most part, has her priorities straight. I know what I want and when I set a goal, I will without a doubt accomplish it.
So, I dropped the class.
Saved me $1200 too!
School is important to me…but, being a Road Warrior is MORE important right now. I have been given this once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of this team…and I’ve already gotten more out of it than you would ever know.
One Comment so far...

Good for you Kristin! That’s a very tough decision, but I admire your commitment to the training. I would have done the same thing! This is a once in a life time opportunity and it is an honor to be a road warrior! You are doing awesome!
