Off and Running in 2008!
Posted by Kristin Linscott under: Kristin Linscott .
I can’t believe it’s already 2008! Only 5 months and a few weeks until Race Day…I know it’s going to sneak up on all of us more quickly than we could imagine!
So back a few weeks ago to the Sunday where we had that amazing blizzard…yeah, I was abruptly woken up from a deep slumber by two guys chainsawing a huge tree that had fallen outside of my apartment window. Why they had to start working at 9am on a Sunday is beyond my understanding! We had a group run around Reeds Lake planned for 11:30am…there was a minute there I wasn’t sure if I would go but since I had spent quite a bit on the most unflattering outdoor running pants the evening before, I figured I had to quit being a whimp and get my butt out to run.
The experience was interesting, needless to say! Only 4 of us showed up…that included our two awesome coaches who themselves thought we were nuts for showing up (Mike…I’m still voting for running inside at the Y the next time we have a blizzard!). Anyways, besides dodging the snowbanks and ice patches, as well as trying to not get blown over by the brisk wind, it was a ton of fun. THANK YOU to Coach Mike for sticking with me the entire 4.25 miles…your encouragement was awesome! And no worries, next time I won’t have any runny-nose issues…I’ve been working on a few things
LOL!
Anyways, I felt great after the run…but by the time I got home my left foot was killing me. I must have jacked up my stride on my left side…the ball of my foot was swollen and I could barely walk on it. I spent the next couple of days laying around icing it…and watching re-runs of Eddie Murphy movies. How many times have you seen Coming to America and Trading Places? I think I counted 3 times (each) over those few days!
So I’m back on track now…can’t wait to join the rest of the crew at tomorrow’s 6pm training at the Y and I’ll be there with bells on to run Reeds Lake this Sunday - whooo hoooo!
Hey Julie…can’t wait to run the 68th/Kalamazoo track with ya…thankful that someone lives close AND has a rediculous schedule like mine!
Off and Running…a great start to 2008!

I always get excited about the start of a new year. Fresh start, and all that.
Funny thing…I haven’t seen EITHER Eddie Murphy movie you referenced.
Had a great time running at the Y, and am looking forward into fitting in some extra runs during the week with you!
