Now coming to GR…….ChiRunning!

Posted by Julie Hurley under: Julie Hurley .

I’m so excited! I just learned that a class on ChiRunning is being held in Grand Rapids on March 29, 2008. I picked up a ChiRunning (Danny Dreyer) book when I first started running because I knew that running has a violent impact on the entire body; and I wanted to make sure that I could continue running well into my older years.

ChiRunning teaches you to run more efficiently while also avoiding serious injury. I have started to incorporate many of the form focuses of ChiRunning into my runs and can feel a wonderful difference in my running. If you can make time for this, I think it’s a wonderful investment in your body and running career.

Here is some info on the class (from Web link below):

In this workshop you will learn the basic ingredients of the ChiRunning Technique.

You will get lots of personal attention and enjoy a rich learning experience packed with good information to help you run injury-free for the rest of your life.

Class Format:

The ChiRunning Essentials workshop includes four hours of instruction in a single 1/2 day course. The class begins at 8:30am and will end at 12:30pm. The workshop will be held indoors. The Instructor will be guiding you through many exercises and drills designed to leave you with a clear sense of what the ChiRunning technique feels like in your body. We will not be doing lots of running (contrary to what you might imagine), so no matter what condition you are in, have no fear. We will spend time alternating between demonstrations, fun exercises and technique drills…the nature of the day will be relaxed, full and inspiring.  There will be a small portion of the workshop held outside to be able to put together all that you have learned.  So check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Please bring snacks and water if needed.

I read Chi Running when it first came out and loved it. I’m signing up! I was not able to get to the site you had down. . . I tried several times and get nothing. Ideas?

Try going to chirunning.com, then click on the Schedule tab. Then scoll down, and you’ll see the GR class listed. I think I’m going, too!!

Thanks Julie:

ChiRunning has been making waves lately. Here’s why.
Are you an experienced runner? Would you like to run further, faster, with less effort and much more pleasure? Would you like to run without the discomfort or the damaging effects that are often associated with running?
Are you a new runner? Would you like someone to actually teach you how to run? How to align your posture, what to do with your arms and legs, how to run uphill and downhill, and how to run without injury?

As a special bonus, If you come a hour early I will be giving a Core Strengthen Movement Class. This will include pre-run warm-ups and exerises for runners that you can do at home by just using your body weight.

This workshop will also be attended by ChiRunners from GR that have attended one of my workshops in Chicago. That’s one of the things about my workshops, you can always come back and take the workshop again at no cost.

Lets go running,
Coach Gill
