Here we go again!

Posted by Steve Kelly under: Steve Kelly .

Well after almost getting it done last year, I’m at it again.  I’m so grateful for being chosen a Road Warrior again.  Even though my injury kept me from my goal, it was so amazing to watch each of my 07 team cross the line.  I got there early and stayed and took pictures til all of them made it.  What a special thing to get to do.  I think it saved them all some money too because they didn’t have to buy one of those race photos!

So, keeping in mind that many wanted the spot I’ve been blessed to have, I won’t let you down!  I know I probably said that last year but, you get the point.  I’m seriously committed to finish this thing.  Because of last year’s experience I think I’m a little wiser.  I know after rehab so much more about stretching and strength.  I’m lighter and in better shape from this time last year too which may help the most.

I wish all of you taking the journey with us much success.  Whether you’re running, wheel chairing or simply following and cheering us along, we’ll to it together.  If you’re a pro, feel free to add as much advice to my comment pages too.  I’ve much to learn and look forward to that.

As far as my training is going things feel good.  I find at my age listening to my body is the smartest thing I can do.  I’m cross training with the exercise bike along with running, mainly indoors at the M.A.C. now.  I have a serious allergy to leaves once they come down so usually in the fall I go in.  After the first good frost I can venture outside again and love it when it’s cold.  I just hate the ice like many of you.

I’m doing about 12 miles a week, just running three days.  That’ll get ramped up in the weeks to come as I increase the weekend long runs.  I’ll do that slowly, with the help of the rest of my fellow Road Warriors.  Also, special thanks to Mike and Terri for coming back this year to coach.  They’re knowledgeable and two of the sweetest Marines you’ll ever meet!

Keep running!

I hope you mean “sweet” in a masculine way.

Congrats on being a RW in ‘08 Steve! You added a great dynamic to the team last year, I’m sure you’ll do the same this year. Run smart.

I love your site. I found your blog via Google while searching for universal stretching exercise and your post regarding Here we go again! looks very interesting to me. It really looks very nice. The articles provided are long enough to provide great content but not so long as to be totally engrossing, if you know what I mean.
