Happy New Year!

Posted by Steve Kelly under: Steve Kelly .

I hope the chaos of the holidays gives way to a peaceful and productive new year for you all.  Like many of the Road Warriors Christmas has been crazy.  Yes, there has been much reflection on the reason for the season.  There’s also been our share of “busy, busy, busy!”  WE had three parties at our house this week alone.  Ten on Wednesday, ten on Thursday, and about seven on Friday to watch the Spartans lose.  Bring on January!

I had what could have been a great four miler yesterday.  The temp was very mild, about 30.  All my new Christmas running gear fits and looks great (a little doughy in spots!).  My problem was simply road conditions.  As bad as I’ve been out in.   About four inches of that slop snow that makes getting around so difficult.  Then that would give way to the ankle twisting chunky ice.  I did this sweet spasm flailing thing at one point just barely keeping me from falling.  I wish I had video of that! I don’t mind six inches of that cold squeaky snow, this mess was dangerous.

What I take away from it though are mainly positive thoughts.  Yeah, it would have been better to go a little farther or faster.  I can tell you all that I felt great during the run and after.  I was sure all that adjusting would stretch or strain something but, all is well so far.  I could, however, use a snow plow for like an hour.  If you know someone, let me know!

I hope now with my schedule stabilizing a bit into the new year I’ll get to run with you all.  There hasn’t been a group run yet I haven’t had something to do for work or the holidays.  I’d be with you all right now but, I’m now home with a sick 9 year old.  She had a sleep over at a friends house last night and came home miserable.  Come to think of it, does anything good come from a sleep over?  You suffer if you host it and if you don’t!

Keep safe and keep running!

Hang in there Steve. After today it’s official that the holiday’s are OVER! I’m sure there’s going to be plenty of opportunities to show off the new gear and do the group running thing! See you soon.

As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.
