Great Weekend

Posted by Bob Estes under: Bob Estes .

The weather this weekend was great wasn’t it?! I ran the Riverbank in reverse with Run Gazelle Saturday morning. It was yet another PR for endurance of 14 miles. Many of the miles were spent with my running friend Joyce.  She caught up to me at about 5 miles and we ran together until the second go round on those hills caused me to slow down a bit and Joyce ran ahead of me.  I never lost sight of her and I caught up to her right at the end and we finished together at the YMCA. Why is that last mile such a huge effort?

Sunday I joined some friends for a bike ride. I told them that this would need to be a short ride since my previous days activity had made my legs a bit tired. Yeah, that’s what I said. At the end of the fast paced ride through the wind and hills my GPS showed that we had logged over 26 miles.

I am extremely pleased that I was able to celebrate the great weather with my long run and the strenuous jaunt on the bike. I feel truly blessed. I feel like I’ve found my way back from an injury that I thought might keep me from participating on May 10th. I’ve been told that returning from injury is part of the process of developing endurance. I believe that to be accurate.

Great job on Saturday, Bob! It was nice to chat with you a bit after our run finally. And awesome recovery workout–though a 26 mile ride seems more than recovery–great job!!! In running equivalency, that’s over 8 miles!!!
