Great Sunday Run

Posted by Steve Kelly under: Steve Kelly .

I finally got a chance Sunday to loop the lake with some of my fellow Road Warriors!  What a great time.  Thankfully most of the ice has melted and we were able to stick to the path most of the time.  I was pretty hard to figure out what to wear on a misty winter day with a weird temperature of 45.  I went with tights and a shell with a light moisture wicking shirt underneath.  It was just about right.  Thank heavens I didn’t wear a hat or gloves!

Had a great chat with mainly Terri, Mike, Matt and Nick.  I actually talked with Nick about running tights.  In retrospect I never thought I’d spend much time talking tights with another guy but, hey-we’re runners!  Mike and Matt were running loops around us and looked a little like bees breaking off a swarm to buzz about and rejoin us.

All of a sudden we were back at the library.  It went faster than ever.  Wow, the power of running as a group.  Mike thankfully talked me out of going around again I felt so good.  My long run is no where near 8 miles yet so it was the right call not to break off more than I should safely try.

Afterwards we stretched and discussed any manner of things.  Mike, one of our coaches, showed me an awesome stretch for the front of your calves I’ve never seen.  It made an immediate difference and is one I’ll use from now on.

I can’t wait to get out there with the group again and laugh and learn some more.  Oh, and work together toward our goal, the mighty 25k!
