Beautiful weekend

I started the morning with a very fast pace four mile warm up around the YMCA track. We did this because some of us are also training for the Bay Shore Marathon and we needed to get twenty miles on Saturday. This was easier than added on four extra miles at the end of the sixteen mile training run that run gazelle mapped out for all the runners. When we started out it was great to see what appeared to be over a hundred runners show up for this community training run.
When we were almost at the five mile mark we saw these three huge animals cross the street about five hundred yards in front of us. We thought that they might of been deer but all of a sudden the three very large what we thought were deer were horses coming right down the middle of the road straight at us. Luckly for us the horses saw Greg Meyer in front of us and they turned left right into their fenced in area. They must of knew Greg Meyer was faster than they were. When we got to the six mile marker Greg Meyer turned back and Darin and I kept going to the eight mile mark but I think we went a little bit further than eight miles. When we were heading back to the YMCA we saw fellow road warriors Nick, Bob, Shelly, Shirl, Kristen, and Julie and I tell ya you road warriors looked great. Everyone should be very proud of themselves for what they have accomplished so far. Everyone shouldn’t have any problems finishing the race with great finishing times.
About the eighteen mile mark I think my running buddy Darin I were hitting a wall. I think running a fast pace four mile warm up before our long run didn’t help out any. Any way we made back to the YMCA. I wanted come home and crash but I had alot to do that day.
On Sunday before I went to get in my car to run around Reeds Lake with some of the road warriors I noticed my nieghbors looking toward my house and I was wondering what they were looking at so I looked out my kitchen window looking toward downtown and saw this huge bald eagle flying up the Grand River. That was an awesome sight. I only seen bald eagles in captivity and always wanted to see one flying in the wild. Then I met up with Coach Mike, Steve and Shelly and we ran a very easy five mile pace. Needless to say I was still sore from twenty mile run. This weekend training was all worth it because it was a very beautiful weekend. Besides where can you almost get run down by horses, train with great people and see a bald eagle.
Answer: Grand Rapids.

Awesome seeing the eagle, Terry! Maybe it was a sign that your Mom is watching closely over you. Thanks for sticking with me on Sunday’s run–sorry it was so slow!
