Am I crazy?

Posted by Kristin Linscott under: Kristin Linscott .

I’ll be honest in saying that, 3 months ago, I would have NEVER thought I could comfortably run 5-6 miles - maybe even more on a good day - without completely vapor-locking.  Before running the 5K in 2007, I was one of those people who only ran when chased…seriously.  I’d see those ‘crazy’ people out on the roads, running rain or shine.  I’d think to myself, ‘Those people are insane!’  I would never thought that I would eventually become one of them :)

So now that I’m on a great track and looking forward to May 10th, I guess I’ve moved into a totally new category.  It’s funny being on the ‘other side’ of the conversation.   I can’t tell you how many times I hear, ‘Are you nuts?’, or ‘You must be crazy in the head!’.  I’ve even come to the point where I’ve put my running in front of my social life, in some cases - not missing a run is MUCH more important to me…once you miss a few, it’s hard to get going again.  It’s not worth it!

I guess what gets me the most is that the people who say this to me do not realize that they themselves could do exactly what I’m doing.  It takes time and dedication…as well as self-discipline.  Get off your butts and get going! :)  The rewards that running can bring are endless, although it may take a while to actually ‘get it.’

When you take a look at all the positives I’m getting out my training, well…call me whatever you wish.  But as they say, don’t knock it unless you’ve tried it!

Go Road Warriors…2 months, 3 weeks and 1 day.

Your not crazy. You are a runner aka ROAD WARRIOR. Great job in keeping your mileage up. Welcome to the Running World. I know for a fact when I started running again and was a Road Warrior last year and joining Run Gazelle it has forever changed my world. In a very good way.
Keep up the good work.
Terry
