15k training run and a 5k beer run.

Posted by Terrence York under: Terrence York (Coach) .

On saturday morning we all met at John Ball Zoo for the 15k training run.  Before the start of the race we saw Jamie from last years road warrior.  He said he was using this training run to see if he is going to race in the 25k race on May 10th.  I didn’t get a chance to ask him after the race if he had a good race or not.  I know he looked like he hadn’t stopped running from last year.  I hope you compete in the 25k race Jamie.

I ran with fellow road warriors Mike, Matt and Chaz.  We ran about a 7:40 minute pace.  We did take it slow though the water stops and stopped one time  to take a rock out of my shoe.  Mike slowed his pace down just a tad to save himself for the 5k beer run later that afternoon. When we finished I went back on the course and ran in all the road warriors.  Everyone of road warriors looked great today.  No one should have any problem crossing the finish line come race day.  Great job road warriors and fellow runners.

Later that afternoon we met at Schmohz for a 5k beer run.  It was also for a great cause the special olympics.  There must of been about 200 people running and walking in this event.  We started out going about a 1/2 mile up hill and down the hill and at the mile turn around you had your choice of a cup of water or a beer.  I passed on both and wanted finish with a good time.  It was fun watching people drink beer at the mile marker.  I finished with a unofficial time of 20:54.  Not a PR for me but I was satisfied with my time due to I ran the 15k eariler that day and it was a fun race.

By the way there was free beer afterwards and I did take part in the after race beer fest.  It was a great way to end a beautiful saturday.  Great job everyone on the 15k and the 5k race.
